FULL TIME JOB
It was a Sunday Morning. A girl entered the Delhi metro running on red line. Hustle and bustle was less usual than other weekdays.
Suddenly she
saw a woman carrying a bulky bag standing near to the closed doors of metro...
“Excuse me...”
the girl said..
“Are you
Radhika?”
Radhika
turned to her left while balancing as the train started running and almost
yelled upon seeing her..
“Tashvi….Tu
yaha kaise? Tu to apni family ke sath Canada shift ho gayi thi..”
“Ha to kya
tujse milne nahi aa sakti?”, Tashvi said..
“Pata hai,
pata hai.. 8th class ke baad to tune sirf 4 trunk calls ki thi mujhe Canada se…..Fir pata nahi kaha gayab ho gayi ?, Radhika replied.
“Vo chhor tu
ye bata Delhi kab shift hui ?”
Before
Radhika could reply, the familiar voice played in the metro.
“Next
Station is Pitampura..Doors will open on the left..Please mind the gap..” As
the recorded voice played..Tashvi insisted Radhika to unboard the metro and
dine somewhere for celebrating this reunion.
Radhika
hesitated a bit but finally agreed…
For hours
both chatted with nostalgic feelings on several cup of coffee…
“Aur wo yad
hai Pandey Sir ke kaise 12 baje rehte they ? “ Tashvi said.
“Oh Shit..12
baj gaye..” Radhika exclaimed.
Tashvi:
Kyun, itna kyun pareshan ho rahi hai ?
Radhika: Actually
Inko bataya tha ki 11 baje taka a jaungi..but abhi to 12 baj gaye..
Tashvi:
Radhika..itna khauf..tu to aisi na thi..Jis Radhika ko main janti thi wo to
khule aasman mein hirni ki tarah kulaache bharti thi….
Radhika:
Shaadi ke baad sab badal jaata hai..
Tashvi:
Kisne kaha tujhe aisa..aur tera hubby..vaise vo karta kya hai ?
Radhika: Vo
asst engineer hain ONGC mein..
Tashvi:
Samajh gayi..”Typical Indian Husband..Jo apni wife ko apni property samajhte
hain. Yaha mat jao, vaha mat jao..ye mat karo..vo mat karo..”
Radhika
wiped the tears of her eyes and told Tashvi, how happy she was working for a
reputed firm after graduating from a top notch college but marriage, on insistence
of her parents changed everything….Her husband denied her the very right of her
own identity.
“Tumhara husband to NRI hi hoga..”Radhika said.
Tashvi: No
he’s not. I decided to come back and settle in India..I met her at a family
gathering. He’s a gem I got in my life. Humlog daily chores sath karte hain..Sometimes
he also cooks for me..He always encourages me to do better..whether It’s my own
job or life decisions in which I have 50:50 stake with him..
Radhika: Tu
to badi lucky hai yaar..
Suddenly
radhika’s mobile started ringing displaying “Husband” on the screen
“Aa gayi
call mere boss ki….”
.

.
.
And Suddenly
Radhika woke up…It was still 5’o’clock. She murmured “Full time job ho to
Tashvi jaisi..”
